What is an RSS news feed?

It is a way for you to get a quick list of the latest headlines from your favorite websites and blogs all in one place. Our RSS feed is used to publish the news stories that you can read on this site but, instead of you having to visit the site, the RSS feed sends the news to you and automatically updates whenever there is any new content.

How do I use RSS feeds?

The first thing you have to do is subscribe to the news feed. You can do this by clicking on the subscribe link on the home page or the main news page where you see this logo:

This tells us that you want to receive our latest news direct to your news reader.

What is a news reader?

To view the news feeds, you will need a reader (sometimes known as an aggregator). These can be web applications, standalone programs that you can install on your PC or browser bookmarks.

Web applications

Because the web application is hosted on remote servers on the web, it can be accessed anywhere by a user with an internet connection. Examples include the popular Google Reader or Bloglines.

Installed software

Installed software readers are applications designed to collect feed subscriptions and group them together using a user-friendly interface. These programs often resemble email applications in the way that content is displayed on screen.

Browser bookmarks

Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox allow for live bookmarking where you can add RSS feeds directly in the browser.
